5Senses | Cardamom Latte
Ingredients
5Senses green cardamom pods, lightly crushed – 4
Milk – 250ml
Double shot espresso – 60ml
Sugar – 1 tsp
Cocoa powder – a pinch, for dusting
Directions
Crush the Cardamom Place the green cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle and lightly crush them to release their aroma. You are not looking for a fine powder — just a gentle crush to open the pods.
Infuse the Milk Pour the milk into a saucepan and add the crushed cardamom pods. Place over low heat and allow the milk to gently simmer for seven to eight minutes. Do not let it boil—keep it at a steady, gentle simmer so the cardamom infuses slowly into the milk.
Strain the Milk Once done, remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the milk through a fine sieve to remove all the cardamom pods.
Froth the strained cardamom milk until it becomes creamy, smooth, and velvety.
Prepare the Espresso: In a cup, combine the double shot espresso with sugar and give it a good mix until the sugar dissolves.
Assemble and Serve Pour the espresso into a preheated cup, then gently add the frothed cardamom milk on top. Dust with a little cocoa powder and serve immediately.
