5Senses | Nutmeg-Infused Spice Cookies

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
● All-purpose flour – ½ cup + 3 tbsp
● Baking powder – ½ tsp
● Salt – ¼ tsp
● Baking soda – ⅛ tsp
● 5Senses nutmeg, freshly ground – 1 tsp
● 5Senses wild cinnamon bark, ground – ½ tsp
● 5Senses black pepper, ground – a pinch
Wet Ingredients
● Oil – ¼ cup
● White sugar – 2 tbsp
● Brown sugar – ¼ cup
● Egg – 1
● Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Topping
● Chocolate – as needed
● Orange zest – as needed

Directions

  1. Grind the Nutmeg Using a mortar and pestle, remove the shell of the nutmeg and grind it to a fine powder. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the Dry Mix In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, freshly ground nutmeg, wild cinnamon bark, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

  3. Beat the Oil and Sugar In a large bowl, beat the oil for two to three minutes. Add the white sugar and brown sugar and continue beating for three to four minutes until well combined.

  4. Add the egg and vanilla crack in the egg and add vanilla essence. Beat until the mixture turns light and slightly fluffy.

  5. Form the Dough Add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix until a smooth cookie dough comes together.

  6. Shape the Cookies Divide the dough into uniform portions and shape each one into a cookie. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place the cookies on top, leaving a little space between each.

  7. Bake Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for fifteen minutes, until the cookies are set and lightly golden.
